One Easy Move to Reduce Stress & Feel Confident

So, I’m in this really fun and amazing online program that’s essentially a fitness program, but really it isn’t. It’s an online yoga program called the Healthy Moving Coaching & Challenge Program, and while it’s about exercise and getting movement- it’s really about so much more.

Ya’ll, it’s changed my life.  The instructor, Jen Hoffman, is an amazing yoga teacher, but she’s also this expert in biomechanics and she teaches us that it’s how you move all day long that shapes your body.

See, as a society, we think that we can sit at a desk for 8 hours a day, hop in the car, drive to the gym and take a 30 minute Zumba class, or lift weights for an hour and we’re good. The truth is that small piece of exercise you fit into your day doesn’t undo the bad habits you are creating in your body by holding yourself in the same position for hours at a desk or behind the wheel of your car.

Not only that but the position you hold your body in throughout the day has a dramatic impact on our psyche- from your confidence level to how stressed you feel.

Just watch this 20 minute TED Talk by author and Harvard researcher Amy Cuddy on how powerfully your body language and posture affect your mental state and how you feel about yourself.  It’s a must see!

Next time you find yourself feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed- check your posture! Chin up, sister! Put a smile on that face! Put those hands on those hips and strike your best Wonder Woman pose!
